A NEW DIRECTION

There might be some of you out there that have been wondering what I have been doing lately.  I have not been writing much or even dropping by my own blog to see what is going on.  It has been a whirlwind around the house since Monday.  Generally, it is too much of a task for me to keep things to myself.  But this time I was pretty good at it.  For the past couple of months, my days have been filled with paperwork, brainstorming and legal stuff.  I wanted to start a nonprofit organization to help all of the children with chronic illnesses and their families.

When I first started this blog, the thought of doing anything like this was too far back in my mind to understand what was happening.  I began writing, as I have blogged about before, because I wanted to honor my son.  Writing a book was my original thought.  My Psychiatrist, an amazing person who became very fond of my son Alex, told me to start writing a blog.  I just mumbled something like, “Ok.  I’ll see.  Maybe.”  That was in March of 2014.  The year was flying by as the possibilities of how to honor my boy kept coming to mind.  September came and I remembered those words  he told me as I was walking to the door to leave.

A blog.  Ok.  Let’s see what this is all about.  I read some books and found some interesting information about  wordpress and decided to give it a try.  Nothing about blogging came naturally to me.  I never gave up.  In the month of October, it was coming together.  To my surprise, I was writing a blog and people were liking what I had to say.  That wasn’t my intention, of course, to build a following.  It was a place to pen my caged thoughts and feelings for the world to see.  The days went by, then months, and I was seeing what a need there is for someone like myself to truly make a change for children with chronic illnesses and their families.  The more writing I did, the more my readers visited and commented, the more it became clear to me that I have a mission in this life.

My thoughts turned to forming a nonprofit organization.  My first sweet friend here on WordPress, Diana at:  talktodiana.wordpress.com, asked me if I had ever thought about starting a nonprofit.  At that point, I didn’t have any idea where I would start, but it was certainly a sign.  Then another dear friend here, Ngobesing Romanus at:  yoursuccessinspirer.com, began encouraging me to do the same.  So, I started the process.  I received all of the paperwork on Monday.  It is official!  My nonprofit has been born!  It is called:  Making Change for Children!  Nothing could have ever made me happier.  I am excited about this new road that I am taking, especially all the people that we are going to help.
